Laxton Progress Pea

HEIRLOOM. Pisum sativum. This heirloom pea from the late 1800s produces an early maturing pea makes Laxton Progress an ideal fall pea: sow in late July or early August for a harvest at the end of September. Pods that develop in the cool temperatures of spring or fall convert their starches into sugars, making them sweeter than any summer pea! The pods grow to about 5 inches in length. Vines are loaded with long pods bursting with 8 to 10 sweet soft skinned peas. A good choice for making baby food and is excellent fresh or frozen.
